Suggested Aircraft Take-Off techniques (Piper Arrow)

The following represents suggested operating tips for a Piper Arrow. This information is posted for discussion purposes. Note: This data is not specific to G-HALC and no warranty is given as to the relevance, suitability etc. to the operation of G-HALC.

Any alternative suggestions / comments etc. to these procedures would be welcomed in the Discussion Group.


a) Standard take-off, metalled runway

Max power/ Max rpm / 0 degrees flap - Lift off & accelerate, when safely climbing select gear up, speed 110mph.

When passing 300ft agl set power 24"MP/2400rpm, speed 110mph (if departing circuit set power 24"MP/2400mph)


b) Soft field take-Off

Max power / Max rpm / 25 degrees flap - Lift off & accelerate, when safely climbing select gear up & flaps up,accelerate to 110mph.

When passing 300ft agl reduce power as a)


b) Short, soft field, Obstacle clearance take-off

Engage gear overide (no longer applicable to g-halc) Max power / Max rpm / 25 degrees flap - Lift off & accelerate, when safely climbing select gear up.

Climb to 300ft agl @ 90 mph.

When passing 300ft agl - flaps up, accelerate to 110mph, and redude power as a). Disengage gear overide.


Landing

Initial approach configuration 12" MP / 25degrees flap / 100mph
Powered final approach 12" MP / 40 degrees flap / 90 mph
Short field, powered final 12" MP / 40 degrees flap / 80 mph
Finals, glide approach closed throttle / 40 degrees flap / 100 mph
